What is a Clos Masure ?
The farm is a large oblong meadow planted with apple cider trees. It is surrounded by an embankment, the "fossé", where trees are planted in double and sometimes triple rows. These trees are cut as the need rises. |

The buildings were originally made of half timber and mud, later of brick and silex, and are far from each other, perhaps to prevent fires from spreading. Around the main house, there are often many buildings : baker's oven, granary, pigsty, hen house, cart house, cider press house, pigeon house etc... |
