This second itinerary is not marked. It will lead you to the famous pigeon houses of the Caux region in the valley of Durdent, Valmont and Ganzeville in particular. In the undulating landscape, behind the tree curtains, you will find hamlets and beautifull avenues leading to chateaux and manors. The pigeon house, a symbol of feudal power, is the focal point of the farm yard, usually built at its center. Because of its symbolic meaning, it was built and decorated with great care and refinement. The lord's arms were often engraved above the main door. For more details, click on the picture |
